Posts: 1855 (04/21/08 10:19 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I'm fed up of charging batteries for my digital camera, only for them to last about 5 pictures before they need charging again. So I'm thinking of getting a camera with a Lithium Ion battery. Problem is I'm a bit clueless about cameras. Will this help my problem? And any recommendations for cameras to look at. I think I'm looking at spending about $300-400 (maybe less because cameras seem much cheaper in the US than the UK). I don't want anything too fancy, just something that I can point and shoot because I know nothing about photography at all, and I just want to be able to take half decent photos of my gorgeous girl! Help! Oh, but while we're at it (and I know I may regret asking this) but what is an SLR camera, and why might I want one? Posts: 2204 (04/21/08 11:28 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	The Kodak Easyshare CX7330 3.1 megapixals is a point/shoot digital camera...the batteries lastest along time, we went to Walt Disney World and the photos came out really good. And this camera is very easy to download and it takes movies too. I'm sure they have improved it, since I bought mine 4yrs ago. I just bought a SONY DSC H7, i'm still getting used to it, and it does take alot more charging than the Kodak. I still use both cameras!!! good luck x

The Canon Powershot 5 mega pixal. I take videos and a million pictures and I only have to change them once in awhile, my old camara I had to change them every couple of weeks! So this one I've been loving

A mirror flops out of the way when you press the shutter release.On a point and shoot the viewfinder and the lens are two separate entities. When you look through the viewfinder you are looking down a different line of sight than the lens. Think about those great shots of your thumb when you swore the viewfinder was clear. Neither the Canon Rebel nor the Nikon D40X have image stabilization when makes them unstable when using a telephoto. Nevertheless, you can spend for auxiliary telephotos like the VRs from Nikon which are not cheap. There's a better solution , a camera which is smaller and lighter than either the Rebel or D40X: It's the Olympus E-510 10 megapixel with active CMOS LCD [which is found on the Nikon 200/300]; 12-bit [vs. 8 bit] RAW file generations; a 3 fps engine which faster than either the Nikon or Canon; Now it come with CCD Shift Image Stabilization and 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Lens selling for $555 shipped. http://www.dealstudio.com/viewtopic.php?t=38120&ru=281 Good luck!

I am still getting used to it so I spend more time using it and the bateries have lasted forever. It is a point and shoot but it has a lot of other functions also. Posts: 20 (04/22/08 10:32 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi Racheal, I would recommend checking out this website Pixmania, We've bought our last three digital from them. they are pretty good on price, we've found it very hard to find them cheaper elsewhere. Also if you can get to north london you can even collect it from the store after purchase. Go for the highest mega pixels you can afford and look for how long the time lag is, as that can be frustrating. (Time lag = how long from pushing the button until it captures the photo) We missed a few brilliant shots due to this, nothing worse than looking at a smiling child and it captures them turning their head away. If you find a camera you like, type the name into google in "" followed by the word review and you should get several different reviews to compare them. If you go to a store to try them out make sure you test the time lag, DH took a photo of me whilst I was holding my hand up folding my fingers down, he would push the button when I had five fingers up and we would see how many I had in the captured shot, I know we were surprised that one of the more expensive ones we liked captured the shot when I had put all my fingers down. It's not brilliantly accurate but does help to give you an idea of timing Good luck

I popped into Jessops (camera shop) today and asked for a bit of advice, and the man seemed surprised about my battery issues - so maybe it's something we're doing wrong, but I've no idea what. I looked at a couple, and things really seemed to have moved on in the couple of years since I got my Fuji. Some of the menu systems on the new cameras (like the Olympus I looked at) are really snazzy and much easier to use than mine. In the meantime, I've bought a brand new set of rechargeable batteries, so I'm going to monitor them very carefully and see how they do. But I'm thinking an integral battery is definitely the way to go. Tiggersmum - we actually got our camcorder from Pixmania and we were very happy with the price and service and everything, so that's actually where I've been looking so far for a new camera.
